Cayman’s Naturalisation Process Goes Virtual

The Office of the Deputy Governor has launched an online system for people applying for British Overseas Territories Citizen naturalisation

The system will also be used for processing applications for Proof of Nationality Letters for individuals who may have lost or damaged their British Overseas Territories Citizenship (BOTC) certificate.

Deputy Governor Franz Manderson said applying for naturalisation or registration as a BOTC will now be easier and more convenient with the new system as applicants or their agents can now complete the entire process online without having to physically visit government offices to submit paper forms and supporting documentation. The processing of payments will also be electronic.

The new portal allows year-round access and allows applicants to submit and track applications at their convenience. Persons can save partially completed applications to be finished later and track the progress of submitted applications. The system employs a high level of security including multi-factor authentication.

Successful applicants will still be required to attend a pledge ceremony.
