The government of the British Virgin Islands has suspended the second and third readings of a bill that was intended to facilitate the regularisation of long-term residents of the territory.
The British Virgin Islands government held information sessions throughout the territory this week to explain the procedure for permanent residency and belongership status.
A new group has been formed in the British Virgin Islands to protest against changes to the immigration act which would see an increase the number of persons eligible to claim permanent residency and Belonger status.
