Involving the heads of the British Overseas Territories, the meeting is the main forum at which issues of mutual interest between the UK and its OTs are discussed.
Britain’s decision to postpone the Joint Ministerial Council at very short notice last year was strongly criticised by attendees, many of whose representatives were already in London when notice of the cancellation. The change was said to have caused “considerable inconvenience”, according to officials.
