The Greek government has extended the lockdown period imposed on its migrant camps to May 21
The decision to extend the measures was made in a statement issued by the migration and asylum ministry on Sunday, but no reason for the decision was given.
The Greek government began to relax the anti-coronavirus measures it adopted in late March for the general populace last week. People can now leave their homes without authorisation and, as of today, some shops will be allowed to reopen and final year school pupils will return to class. Since the stringent measures were adopted weeks ago, no coronavirus cases have been reported in the Aegean Island camps, although outbreaks occurred in two camps and a hotel accommodating asylum-seekers on the mainland.
