The US government has implemented new blanket travel restrictions
On Friday, the US government added six countries with large Muslim populations to the list of countries whose citizens are subject to travel restrictions and extra vetting requirements bringing the total number to 13. Four of the new countries – Eritrea, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania – are African. The other countries are Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar, the latter of which is home to a Rohingya Muslim minority that remains at risk of genocide.
The seven countries already subject to restrictions are Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Venezuela, and North Korea. All but the last two have sizeable Muslim populations.
