The US Consulate General in Bermuda has announced the launch of the US Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival program
The scheme launched at Bermuda’s LF Wade International Airport means all US citizens and those who hold a UK passports as well as passport holders from Argentina, Colombia, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland and Taiwan may apply for Global Entry. Canadian citizens and residents enrolled in NEXUS may also use the Global Entry kiosks. Bermuda passport holders are currently ineligible for the service.
Enrollment on Arrival is operated by US Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) and eliminates the need for Global Entry applicants to schedule an interview at an enrollment center overseas. Applicants who successfully complete the online application and background check will receive a conditional approval notice confirming their eligibility for an interview. Once conditionally-approved, Global Entry applicants must complete an in-person interview – the final step of the enrollment procedure – during the US pre-clearance process by a CBP officer before the applicant boards their flight. If approved, travellers will become a Global Entry members and will be able to use the Global Entry kiosks without further intervention in Bermuda as well as other international locations where the service is available.
Persons must apply online through the Trusted Traveler Programs website and pay a non-refundable application fee for a five-year membership of US$100.
