The White House has issued a press release setting out a new policy which is designed to dissuade those who may be tempted to break the law
President Trump has signed a presidential memorandum on April 22 directing the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security to combat visa overstays by suspending or limiting entry of individuals coming from countries with high rates of people overstaying visas.
The most recent report by the Centre for Migration Studies for the years 2016-2017, found that overstaying a visa accounted for about 62% of newly undocumented people, compared to just 38% who crossed the border without authorisation.
