Entrepreneurs to lose out

The Home Office has proposed a reduction in the number of overseas entrepreneurs given UK visas.

The Home Office has said that it expects to grant fewer visas to overseas entrepreneurs under the new innovator and start-up routes than had been previously granted under the old Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) and Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) schemes. Comparing the scheme to similar ones in other countries, it was noted that the number of visas issued in those circumstances numbered in the low hundreds or less.

1,200 visas were granted under the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) route, and 300 visas were issued to graduate entrepreneurs in 2018.
