In addition to the launch of an online application system for the submission of work permits, the Immigration Department in the British Virgin Islands will implement a new appointment system commencing March 1, 2018.
The Department has seen excessive lines and lengthy delays in the processing of applications over the last few weeks. In an attempt to lessen the wait members of the public have had to endure and to improve the Department’s overall efficiency, persons seeking to acquire residence status, become a belonger, or have their entry and landing permit renewed or issued will be asked to schedule their appointments and will be seen Mondays through Thursdays. Persons seeking to extend their landing permits will be seen on a walk-in basis daily between 8am and 3pm. All other persons, such as students and those exempt from work permits, will be required to book appointments on Fridays.
Members of the public are asked to schedule their appointment at least 10 days in advance and to submit their name, preferred time slot and type of service they are are requesting when making their appointment. It is anticipated that this new system will eventually be assimilated into the new online application system.
