The Immigration Department in the British Virgin Islands plans to implement an online application process for entry permits.
Yesterday Premier Dr D Orlando Smith announced that a new online system was being tested and was expected to be up and running within the next few weeks. The Immigration Department in the British Virgin Islands has been beset with problems over the last few weeks due to an influx of volunteers and expatriate workers arriving to assist with recovery efforts in the aftermath of the hurricanes in 2017 as well as staffing shortages and a lack of resources leading to delays. It is hoped that the new online application will improve the efficiency of the process. In the interim, employers have been asked to send work permit applications directly to the Department for processing.
