The 2016 Bermuda Census was released recently and the figures reveal a decline in the jurisdiction’s overall population as well as an increase in the number of homeless persons over the four-year period which it covers. The residential populations of both major cities – Hamilton and St George’s – also fell with Hamilton recording a 17% fall and St George’s a 28% decline. Bermudians continue to leave the territory to take up residence in other countries, mainly the US and the UK and immigration was thought to have declined however incomplete data in both of these areas meant definitive numbers could not be obtained.
