Following our previous report regarding the liberalisation of its immigration policies, the British Virgin Islands Government will begin to issue multi-year entry permits to select workers including non-nationals who are contracted government workers, employees of statutory bodies, and persons who have an indefinite work permit exemption and have lived in the territory consistently for five years or more. These new permits replace the previously issued yearly entry permits. The multi-year entry permit will be granted in three year intervals and will be given after the expiry date of the person’s present entry permit. The grant of the permit will not be automatic; an application will still have to be made, interviews conducted and the prescribed fee paid. The measure is intended to provide efficient and reliable services to the public and is in keeping with regional and international immigration reform initiatives.
